Cikaracak Waterfall – West Java

Cikaracak Waterfall – West Java

“The journey is the goal”

As always I had researched the destination “Curug Cikaracak”, Cikaracak Waterfall, before heading there yet I hadn’t seen any photograph of this scene that I captured only half way into the trail.

I was surprised to find such a dense and pristine jungle with deep valleys, steep mountains, a clear stream and spectacular waterfall only at 2 hours drive from busy Jakarta.

“Curug” is the name for waterfall in the local Javanese language and Curug Cikaracak is a gem tucked away in a valley, not far from the city of Bogor, where it seems that time has stood still.

The jungle along the trail, with huge old trees covered in ferns and moss, a clear and gentle stream that’s always present are well worth a stop for unique photographic opportunities. Just a nice or even nicer than the actual waterfall that most visitors have as their only goal.
